Revitalizing the tourism industry stricken during the Covid-19 pandemic by redirecting to the group of wealthy foreign tourists is an initiative of the Thai government. In the past week, this "country of smiles" has welcomed the first foreign visitors to participate in the "quarantine at the villa" and "isolation at the golf resort".

On February 23, the Thai tourism industry welcomed the first group of foreign tourists to participate in the "villa isolation" program at Sri Panwa Resort in Phukhet province. The first 59 tourists to experience the "villa quarantine" program were wealthy tourists from the UK, USA, France and Finland. This group of tourists arrived in Phuket on charter flights from Indonesia.


Phukhet Deputy Governor Pichet Panaphong and some quarantine officials went to Phuket International Airport to welcome the first 13 tourists.


After arriving in Thailand, the group of tourists will be kept and isolated at Sri Panwan Hotel. Under the "villa isolation" program, for the first 14 days, visitors will have to isolate in their own rooms. They can then use the facilities on the hotel premises.

Earlier, Ms. Apisamai Srirangson, assistant spokesperson for the Thai Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said that Thailand has just welcomed the first group of tourists including 41 Koreans to join the program. a "golf quarantine" program at Artitaya Golf Resort in Nakhon Nayok province in the middle of last week.


Similar to the "villa quarantine" program, when participating in the "golf isolation" program, visitors will have to isolate at an approved golf resort for 14 days. During their stay, they can play golf and participate in other outdoor activities, but still have to strictly follow epidemic prevention measures.


After completing the 14-day isolation period at the golf resort in Nakhon Nayok, the group of Korean tourists will fly to Chiang Mai to play, said Jiranee Poonnayom, director of the Thailand Tourism Agency in Korea. golf here.


Ms. Apisamai affirmed that the Thai Government welcomes quarantine initiatives that can help attract more foreign tourists. “Business owners can come up with other quarantine ideas, and can even arrange food delivery and sales in quarantine areas,” she said.
