After "isolation for golfing", Thailand implemented more "isolation on yachts"

With the "Digital Yacht Quarantine" program, the Thai tourism industry is expected to attract more than 100 yachts and 300-500 tourists in 2021.

The program “Digital Yacht Quarantine” aims to attract tourists by private yacht to Phuket. Visitors will be quarantined by Thai authorities and will then be issued a digital health monitoring device.

The monitoring device will allow Thai health authorities to monitor the heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature of these travelers in real time. Guests must wear a tracking device at all times and the yacht must be within 10km of the shore. After 14 days, the health authority will analyze the data and allow the yacht to dock in Phuket.

The plan is to create an additional source of income for the tourism industry in Phuket, as the destination prepares to reopen to international visitors. The Thai government has also implemented a "golf quarantine" program to boost the tourism industry, which is severely declining because of the pandemic.

In the near future, it is expected that Thailand will continue to launch a quarantine program at famous beaches and tourist areas. Visitors will undergo 14 days of isolation at comfortable hotels and resorts in Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai.
